The concept behind bidding sites (also known as penny auctions) is purchasing bids, finding items that interest you, and using your bids to win those items at huge discounts.
Each auction begins at a penny and the bidders bid the price up a penny at a time. Every time someone places a bid it extends the time until the auction ends. The time that it ads is different at each site. Pro tip: the best sites having the lowest times.
In order to bid, the player much purchase bid packages. Again, the packages range from site to site and many also offer bonus clicks. Some bidding sites have even started offering free play auctions to allow players to become familiar with their auctions. Once you’ve purchased a pack you can find an item and then begin bidding!
Most bidding sites offer an assortment of consumer electronics, gift cards, and bid packs. They are usually arranged in categories or a searchable index. Once you’ve found an item you like, iPhone 4 anyone?, you can start bidding.
The bottom line with bidding is you want to be the last bid before time runs out. The last bid wins, all the others that got it to that point don’t. Many sites offer a Buy Now option as well. The Buy Now option allows bidders to buy the item at market value if they don’t want to continue with the auction.
There are many different tips and strategies that bidders use, and I’ll cover more of those in an upcoming post…
